SMART CASUAL OUTFIT 1

This is what I wore yesterday. The formal blouse works well with the casual skater skirt to make a smart casual outfit to be proud of. I hadn't put my shoes on yet, I was rushing to catch my train! But I wore black tights and black shoes to keep the focus on the silk blouse (bought on sale!).

I'm finding it hard to move away from the skater skirt/blouse combo. I literally wear this skirt about 3 times a a week. I'll be branching into trousers soon....

WANTED THIS DECEMBER

I need these in my life. After a month of wearing 50 shades of grey (or black), I think it's time to brighten up my smart casual wardrobe. Now that I'm used to the office and I know what most people wear, I feel like I can add some colour. At first, I didn't want anyone to notice me. I tried not to make too many sudden movements. Even trips to the coffee machine in a skirt freaked me out. I thought I would end up flashing someone my accident. A lot can happen in on a 30 second walk!

The pale pink trousers and burgundy dress would be a great way to add colour without blinding my colleagues. Pair the trousers with a silk blouse, leave the blazer at home and you have smart casual, no?

The First Post

Dress Code: Smart casual. These four words make me rip my wardrobe apart each morning and leave me with nothing to wear. What do they even mean? What is ‘smart casual’? WHHYYYYYY?

This is what my blog is all about.

I’ve just started a my first graduate job in London but before I could properly say au revoir to unemployment, the company’s dress code left me in tears. Everything I owned was either too casual or too smart. I’m French, born in Paris. I've been surrounded by well dressed women since day one but nothing could prepare me for the enigma that is ‘smart casual’. So I decided to start a blog to show how I tackle the dress code. Enjoy!
