Boxing Day SALES

After giving and receiving on Christmas day, it's time to receive some more. Spend that hard earned money on yourself! Treat yourself to something on your wish list or just get everything on that wish list.

I'm ill/fear for my life so I won't be hitting the sales in person today. I'll be doing it from home in between naps, sneezes and essay writing. I was quite disorganised this year though, I've bought things that I haven't tried on in store.Thank god for free returns.

Surprise sale find of the morning: Gershwin UGG boots! Who knew UGG boots even went on sale? I didn't. They were sold out on the Selfridges website so did a sneaky Google and found them in stock with the same discount on the Kurt Geiger website. They'll be delivered on the 5th of January though, 10 days and counting...

Winter Yellow and Black

Blazer - French Connection (similar here and here) // Blouse - Sud Express (similar) // Trousers - New Look // Shoes - Clarks // Necklace - Swarovski // Watch - Olivia Burton

Let there be sun! It may be cold outside but when the sun shines, it makes it all better. So why not wear a pale yellow blouse to the office? The all-black blazer and trousers makes the hint of colour less harsh. Great for offices drenched in black and grey.

I finally got my Swarovski necklace. It was a little gift from me to me. I think it's good to show yourself some love in jewellery form. Get in the Christmas spirit! Here's my Christmas gift you, a little be of knowledge. The Clarks shoes are on SAAAALLLLLEEEE. I got them full price, so Merry Christmas and happy shopping.

Office Christmas Party Outfit

Top - Mango (old) // Skirt- Warehouse // Shoes - Aldo (old)

Tadaaa! This is what I wore to the office Christmas party. I wanted to be comfortable and cute. The floral print stood out, it was different to all the Christmas sparkle going on in the room. And there was so much sparkle!

The high-waisted midi skirt was comfortable. It didn't let me down during the three course meal. My food baby stayed hidden but not crushed. A colleague even told me I looked like a woman! It's all thanks to the midi.

It was a lovely evening with dinner and drinks. Sadly, no dancing but I don't think my skirt could have handled that. As usual I took my heels off approximately two hours after I put them on. A had a pair of flats at hand and enjoyed the rest of the night.

Hope you had/have a great pardy too. (Everyone loves a pardy).

Office Christmas Party Inspiration

It's time for the Christmas office party! Everyone likes a party. This is my second one ever and I still find it hard to plan an outfit for a sophisticated dinner and dancing. But I am pretty happy with my dream selection above. Instead of choosing a dress, I went for separates that can be worn again. A silk camisole tucked into a semi-sheer midi skirt mixed with statement accessories. And those thin midi rings, I can't live without them. I don't know how my fingers existed without them. All hail anything midi!

I'm still putting the finishing touches on my Christmas party outfit. The deadline is this Friday...

Necklace - John & Pearl at Harvey Nichols
Bag - 123
Rings - HLcollection at Etsy
Top - Tibi at Net-a-Porter

Tarnish-proof?

I want to make my jewellery tarnish-proof.
My friend told me that if you coat your jewellery in transparent nail varnish it won't loose it's colour. I couldn't believe. My (fake) gold would stay gold? My rose gold would no longer turn into a weird bronzey green? I was sold. My friend hadn't even tried it yet - she got the tip for another friend. But I did it. And so far, no regrets.
For those of you who aren't fans of spending hundreds on a piece of jewellery for work, this is for you and I. Accessories are subtle ways of making a work outfit feel more 'you'. So you need to protect to make sure they last as long as possible. The bracelet I'm using here has already suffered a bit so I want to keep it from getting worse. Like anti-wrinkle cream for jewellery.
What Dora did:
I got my favourite piece of fake gold and my Chanel top coat. I said a little prayer and went crazy with the nail varnish! I tried to put thin layers on each side of the bracelet. Them I let it dry. Honestly, the bracelet looked shinier but you can't tell that I put my top coat on it. I'm happy with the results.

Winter Midi Skirt

Jumper - United Colors of Bennetton // Skirt - Karen Millen

It's time for jumpers but I still want to go bare legged and wear my summer midi! Instead of tucking my jumper into my skirt for a highwaisted look,  I threw it ontop. Et voilĂ .  Smart casual.  And you get to stay warm, on top anyway.

I have had my wool jumper for about 5 years and it still look brand new.  United Colors of Benetton just know how to make a great durable knit.

I got my job back so they'll be more smart casual clothing to come!

Happy Thursday!

Wanted This November

It's time to accept winter and all the wonderful things it brings to your office wardrobe: an excuse for a new coat. Like each year, I have fallen in love with a coat from Sandro. They keep you so warm, you wouldn't need to wear a blazer underneath during your commute. How do I know? Do I own one? Of course not. Not yet! (I'm saving up). But I've tried on enough Sandro coats to give you advice!

I also want a new bag. Orange now has a special place in my heart, and all over my accessories. I just can't get enough of it! It brightens up any outfit while the sun is away.

Bag - Lancaster from Lancster
Shoes - Hobbs
Coat - Sandro
Bracelet - Fossil
Earrings - Buckley London from House of Fraser
Silk blouse - Jaeger (on sale!)
Skirt - COS

Etsy Jewellery

This is my first Etsy buy and the website has been around for a long time. I decided to give it a go and buy an ear cuff after I lost my Thomas Sabo ear cuff last weekend. After mourning my loss for two days (it was quite an emotional time, who likes losing stuff?!), I searched for a replacement on Etsy. I wanted something affordable and eye catching but not made of metal. There was so much choice! But these caught my eye. To make things even better, the seller had a deal, buy three ear cuffs at once and only pay for the shipping of one package. I couldn't say no.

These ear cuffs are subtle enough to wear in the office. They're sterling silver, gold-filled and rose gold filled (available here). ENJOY!

Mid-Season Prints

Dress - Mango // Belt Cyrillus

I would like to take this time to personally welcome back the Sun. It's been while seen I last saw and I don't know how long you'll stay, so I took this opportunity to ditch my coat and bare me naked arms! And it felt good.

I normally wear this dress without a belt, so it hangs loose. But this time, I thought I would remix things and cinch my waist. Adding a belt can do a lot. I feel like I got two styles for the price of one. Monochrome prints are a safe way of adding a little something extra to an outfit.

Life Change

I’m a student again! I decided to go back into education – hopefully for the last time – to get my masters. Leaving a full-time job and going back to being a student will be hard to get used to, but if I didn’t take the opportunity I would have regretted it.

So now I’m blogging as a penniless student. I will be looking for a part-time job so I can continue to post about what to wear to work. But if I don’t get one, I’ll post anyway. YOLO!

Navy and Black

Top - 123 (similar) // Trousers - New Look // Shoes - Clarks (similar)

I have a thing for navy and comfort. And ankle cleavage. If it's not too cold, it's always nice to give your ankles some fresh air.

As we move into Autumn/Winter, I'm leaving a blazer at work and wearing my big winter coat for my commute. I hate being cold and I hate being too hot on the tube, so the big coat works for me. I take it off on the tube and get to show off this lovely blouse. Subtly patterned blouses just add an extra something. They're not a loud as graphic print and make people take a second look. Is that a print? No, it's a pattern on the actual blouse. Yes. Blow their minds.

Wanted this October

Winter is coming and I have accepted that fact. But I'll need all of the above to get me through. I never wanted to wear an all-black outfit to work but the rose-tone jewellery adds warmth to the outfit. And have you seen that bag?!  Orange is my new everything, so I need this bag in my life. Yes, you can't wear a hat in the office, but you can look fabulous as you walk through the office doors. After all, the little things count too. I would add a pair of black tights though, it's cold out there.

Blouse Cyrillus

Ear cuff Thomas Sabo

Skirt Whistles

Bag DKNY from Monnier Freres

Shoes Carvels from House of Fraser

Necklack Swarovski from Goldsmiths

Belt that boxy dress

Dress - Pied A Terre (similar) // Coat - ZARA (similar) // Belt - Cyrillus (similar) // Ear cuff - Thomas Sabo

I tried something new with my green dress. Yes, I belted it. Belt a loose fitting dress and you get two styles for the price of one! I'm also wearing an ear cuff. I'm too scared to get a piercing so these are perfect. I just take it off when I've had enough. I tried to find a discreet and simple one to wear to work. I didn't want to save it for my 'weekend only' wardrobe. An ear cuff might not work for all offices but give it a go! They look so cute. Just don't wear it to an interview. It might be too 'edgy'.

My trench is becoming my best fried. I don't understand the weather, I feel like the internet is lying to me. They predict rain then it shines. They predict warm weather, so I leave without a coat and shiver all the way to my train station. I just can't win. So I wear a trench. It's the perfect for unpredictable weather!

Checks

Shirt - Aubin and Wills // Skirt - Topshop

I was going for something simple yet effective. Classic white shirts can get boring - so I've heard, I don't own one yet - so why not where a check shirt instead?

I'm still looking for a black skater skirt to replace my Topshop one. I need something a little more formal, something with more structure...

Day to Night Look

Blazer - Whistles // Trousers - New Look // Top - Mango // Bra - Marlies Dekkers // Scarf - Massimo Dutti

Finding an outfit that works day to night is very important. I never understood until last Friday when I put this outfit together. Who wants to take an extra top to work, or worse, change into an entirely different outfit in the toilets at work. I'm not about that life. To make my transition easier, I like to wear my night outfit all day.

Day Dora will wear a blazer and scarf in the office to cover up what lies beneath. And what lies beneath you ask? NIGHT DORA!! The scarf covers a low cut slinky cami and a Marlies Dekkers bra. I love night Dora. Just place your blazer on your shoulders et voila. I hope this helps you with your next day to night look!

All Black

Top - Vintage find // Scarf - Vintage find // Trousers - New Look // Shoes - Clarks (old)

All black err-thing. Well, almost. It's time for another statement scarf. This one is 100% silk, a great vintage find I owe to my mother. I'm so happy this scarf was brought into my life! And it's so big that you can wrap it around yourself like a shawl when your at your desk. This is one of my most practical and comfortable outfits.

The scarf if from Lasenby of London, now known as Liberty London. They have the most eye-catching scarves. But with prices from £50, I'm going to have to save up for another.
