Pastel Yellow

Skirt - Oasis (old) // Shirt - Hobbs (old)

I'm back from my holiday in  Croatia so I thought I'd bring some sun to the office with my yellow skirt. I'm so thoughtful,  I know.

Summer I finally in full swing and what says summer more than a yellow pleated skirt? It's just so easy a breezy. Pastel yellow is a hard colour to match with a corporate wardrobe. My tops will always have to be a dark or neutral colour - I'll save the royal purple for the weekend.

This is only the second time I've worn this skirt to the office. The first time, everything went wrong.

1) As I walked to my desk,  one of my colleagues came up to me and asked "why are you wearing a yellow skirt,  it's so bright". I was so offended and shocked. I really wanted to come up with a witty/offensive come back but all I could say was 'what's wrong with that?'. I believe that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.  What I wear is what I like,  I'm not dressing for anyone else.
2) I was wearing black tights because it was still winter. It looked horrible. Midi pleated skirts don't go with black tights, I know that now.

Let's hope the weather doesn't change! I'm getting used to showing some skin.

Scarf Print Dress

 Dress - Mango// Shoes - Dune (old) // Trench - Zara (old)

I got this on SALE!! Which means it's twice as nice.

I'm experimenting with dress shapes to get away from my usual fit-and-flare uniform. This box dress shape is allows a lot of movement  and hides your stomach on those 'fat days'. The material creases slightly as the day goes on, but it's not that noticeable. And that PRINT! I've been wanting to wear head to toe print to the office for a while now and this was the answer. The shades of navy and white make the pattern quite subtle and office-appropriate. I love a good scarf print.

I don't normally match colours, but hey, the dress and trench coat go hand in hand. Especially with this unpredictable weather. You wake up and it's drizzling (did you see the storm last Friday morning?! I thought the world was coming to an end) then by 10 am, you need sunglasses and an ice cream it's so hot. This makes dressing for work harder because the weather changes drastically during the day. The commuter must be prepared for anything so grab that umbrella, trench coat and don't forget the sunglasses - just in case.

I'm off to Croatia for a bit- yaaaaaaaaay holidays - so I will do a sales post when I get back.

HAPPY MONDAY!

CBA - An outfit

Shirt - Hobbs // Trousers (*not jeans FYI*) - New Look // Shoes - Bon Genie

I work up tired, I went to work tired and I came home tired. I lay on the floor and woke up 20 minutes later to take some photos. This is my CBA (can't be arsed) outfit. Great for when you can't be arsed to think about anything. My goal this morning was to get to work and that's about it. I ended up taking a nap in the kitchen. I bought my pillow. Yes, I have no shame.
But if you take another look at it, this outfit is GREAT. The shirt didn't crease that much no matter how much I slouched or napped today. Pretty good. This outfit might be a bit casual though. My sister asked my if I was allowed to wear jeans to work! But they are not jeans!!!!! - but I couldn't have one all that napping with a blazer on. And the shirt is silk so I think it's ok.
I need the weekend and 20 hours of sleep....
HAPPY THURSDAY

Is it worth it?

Am I buying the item because I like it?
Or for the brand?

I'm sure you've asked yourself this question before. I was faced the dilemma when I came across this lovely Mulberry scarf. I never considered Mulberry to be a ‘must have’ brand until I went to University in the UK. The British brand which hasn't really made its way over to France/Switzerland, where I lived before. But when I went to Uni, I quickly learned that for many, a mulberry bag was a statement of wealth. Their bags cost up to £4,500 and the scarves go from £150 to £550. Yes, the bags are made of superior leather and have great detail.

But sometimes, especially with their scarves, I think you’re just paying for the label.

This beauty is £295 made from 65% silk & 35% wool. A similar composition can be found at Louis Vuitton, with their Monogram Shawl (60% silk and 40%wool) retailing at £335.
I managed to find the pink Mulberry scarf at half price on the Harrods website - now sold out - and almost checked out when I thought ‘Am I buying the item because I like it? Or for the brand? The scarf is beautiful but I've seen similar silk and wool blends from less known labels for half the full price of a Mulberry scarf! So I let it go. If I bought it, I wouldn't tell people that my scarf was silk and wool, I would just say it was mulberry. In this case, I wanted to but the scarf for the brand rather than its quality.

I'll start looking for another silk/wool blend scarf this winter and hopefully it won't break the bank.

Sales Update

My bag, me beautiful French bag has arrived. I bought this on the first day if the French sales, I was ready at 7 am - 8 am French time - bank card ready, I had prepared my shopping cart the night before. There was one bag left and I got it! I'll reveal it during my summer sales haul. Just one of many things I've bought on discount.

The summer sales are in full swing and I've managed to get almost  everything on my bookmarks/wishlist. The only downside to online shopping is the lack of instant gratification, waiting for delivery is the worst. But when it arrives it's like effing Christmas morning.

Right, I'm off to do some more shopping.
