Belt that boxy dress

Dress - Pied A Terre (similar) // Coat - ZARA (similar) // Belt - Cyrillus (similar) // Ear cuff - Thomas Sabo

I tried something new with my green dress. Yes, I belted it. Belt a loose fitting dress and you get two styles for the price of one! I'm also wearing an ear cuff. I'm too scared to get a piercing so these are perfect. I just take it off when I've had enough. I tried to find a discreet and simple one to wear to work. I didn't want to save it for my 'weekend only' wardrobe. An ear cuff might not work for all offices but give it a go! They look so cute. Just don't wear it to an interview. It might be too 'edgy'.

My trench is becoming my best fried. I don't understand the weather, I feel like the internet is lying to me. They predict rain then it shines. They predict warm weather, so I leave without a coat and shiver all the way to my train station. I just can't win. So I wear a trench. It's the perfect for unpredictable weather!

Checks

Shirt - Aubin and Wills // Skirt - Topshop

I was going for something simple yet effective. Classic white shirts can get boring - so I've heard, I don't own one yet - so why not where a check shirt instead?

I'm still looking for a black skater skirt to replace my Topshop one. I need something a little more formal, something with more structure...

Day to Night Look

Blazer - Whistles // Trousers - New Look // Top - Mango // Bra - Marlies Dekkers // Scarf - Massimo Dutti

Finding an outfit that works day to night is very important. I never understood until last Friday when I put this outfit together. Who wants to take an extra top to work, or worse, change into an entirely different outfit in the toilets at work. I'm not about that life. To make my transition easier, I like to wear my night outfit all day.

Day Dora will wear a blazer and scarf in the office to cover up what lies beneath. And what lies beneath you ask? NIGHT DORA!! The scarf covers a low cut slinky cami and a Marlies Dekkers bra. I love night Dora. Just place your blazer on your shoulders et voila. I hope this helps you with your next day to night look!

All Black

Top - Vintage find // Scarf - Vintage find // Trousers - New Look // Shoes - Clarks (old)

All black err-thing. Well, almost. It's time for another statement scarf. This one is 100% silk, a great vintage find I owe to my mother. I'm so happy this scarf was brought into my life! And it's so big that you can wrap it around yourself like a shawl when your at your desk. This is one of my most practical and comfortable outfits.

The scarf if from Lasenby of London, now known as Liberty London. They have the most eye-catching scarves. But with prices from £50, I'm going to have to save up for another.

Graphic pencil skirt

Skirt – H&M (old) // Shirt – Cyrillus (similar) // Shoes – Dune (similar)

You can never wear too many shades of blue at the same time. In my opinion.

I bought this pencil skirt a while ago, before I got a job but I held onto it just in case.  And I'm happy I did. Graphic pencil skirts make workwear youthful. A black pencil skirt is a wardrobe staple, but colour is essential to make early mornings easier. I had to force myself to get out of bed today, but this skirt made it all ok. And the weekend is just around the corner!

Wanted This September

I refuse to say bye to summer so I’ve added a little sunshine in this list. The yellow Mango dress will remind everyone in the office of the warmer months in the year. Trust me, they’ll thank you.  The rest of my choices are my attempts at putting season-appropriate colour into autumn.

I really want the brown handbag! I don’t normally carry brown bags but I need this in my life. It’s very autumn appropriate.

White Shirt - M&S
Yellow dress - Mango
Red dress - Mango
Bag - Lancaster
Boots - Massimo Dutti

Pleated Skirt and Top

Skirt – Karen Millen // Shoe – Bon Genie (bought in Geneva) // Top – Mango

It’s THE PLEATED SKIRT of my dreams. Only high pitched squeals can describe how I feel when I wear it. This has to be one of the most flattering skirts I’ve ever worn. The colour is wonderful but limiting. I definitely can’t wear black tights with it.I’ll be on the hunt for a nude pair so that I can wear this bright skirt during the dark winter days. Apparently wearing 'happy colours' makes you happy, I'll try anything that will make waking up at 6 am less painful. When it comes to tops, I’ll be limited to white/off-white colours. Maybe a pale blue? But nothing deep so that I don’t have a colour clash.

It just makes me so happay. And I want you to be happy too! The skirt is available in navy here and a black faux leather version here (for the adventurous).

Autumn

Coat – Helen Berman // Dress – Mango // Shoes - Dune // Bag - Renata Corsi

I miss the sun. It feels like autumn already. I'm not ready to say bye summer and I’m not good at buying transitional pieces! I find it hard to get work wear to fit that time when it's not that hot or cold, so I just mix my summer and winter wardrobes. A heavy woollen coat paired with a light-weight dress and tights, you can’t forget the tights. I'm all about tights.

I love this patterned shift dress. It’s so effortless, I rarely where jewellery with it. It is definitely a ‘throw-on-an-go’ dress. The only problem is finding a type of cardigan that looks right with the dress. So the shipping continues!

HAPPY MONDAY!
